The Future is Now -
Future Proofing Teaching and
Learning for a Just Transition

We have been developing STEAM education programmes nationally and internationally since 2011 and delivering these in S.Kerry since 2017.
Our focus to date has been on under-18s and this year we are pleased to introduce our second Adult training programme, funded by Leader through SKDP.
The programme has been designed to support those working with young people, have some facilitation or education experience or have other skills e.g. arts, design, craft or technology to develop STEAM education skills.
Longer-term we hope the programme will build local capacity and employment opportunities as well as have an impact on local 21c offerings for our young people to develop the skills for the world they will live in.

The Muinín Catalyst Sustainable STEAM (MCSS) Project was initiated in 2022, funded by Science Foundation Ireland and the Department of Education through the Discover programme, to address critical gaps in 21st-century education by equipping teachers and learners with skills in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), Futures Literacy, and Climate Resilience.

Working with Maine Valley Family Resource Centre we meet with up to 15 young people age 10 - 15 years working on tech-related projects. The aim is to build skills, confidence and competence in 21st century skills using design and technology. This included digital storytelling, film-making, circuitry and digital film-making.

with the Problem to PItch challenge

Eco-Competent is an Erasmus+ initiative responding to one of the most urgent challenges facing Europe’s youth: the intertwined crises of climate change and mental wellbeing. With eco-anxiety rising and global instability threatening progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the European Green Deal, young people are looking for guidance, tools, and supportive environments that help them turn concern into meaningful action.
Youth workers, positioned at the heart of young people’s learning and empowerment, need new skills and confidence to navigate this landscape without amplifying fear, overwhelm, or trauma. Through research-based training, participants gain methods for integrating climate action into everyday life choices, from sustainable mobility to healthier, low-impact lifestyles, while learning facilitation and leadership techniques that transform anxiety into agency.
At its core, Eco-Competent is a community-building effort. The programme connects youth workers from diverse European contexts, fostering peer learning and the exchange of best practices. .
